I think I finally found a cake recipe I don’t like. It is gooseberry crumble cake. Sounds ok doesn’t it? It had rice flour and ground almond instead of flour, and it was ok when it first came out of the oven – had it stayed like that it might have got a foodie cool board rating of ok… but by the next day there was nothing “crumble” about it. Even though it went in the usual cake tin, it was, well – soggy:
Normally R it quite happy to eat cake disaster, but this one was a disaster too far and it gets a rating of uncool from us.
The thing is, its R’s birthday today, so we cant leave things in an uncool state! so this morning I have been making individual mushroom cakes and his all time favourite apple Dorset cake, so hopefully this evenings cake will be subzero.
