The black dog returns

Dark clouds are rolling in,
This thick stench of fog,
It blots out the light
And sucks out all hope.
I try to light a lamp,
But with each passing day
The task proves more difficult.
Whispering tendrils curl around my mind
And take the joy of truth, a life well beloved.
The black dog returns.
